<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">In the process of making training contract applications where I am asked to answer competency based questions, I’ve realised that I’ve been in a lot of part time jobs. On the one hand it may seem quite dull and repetitive, but on a deeper insight my part time experiences have strengthened certain attributes of mine. Attributes that are essential to navigate through this fourth technological revolution that is Artificial Intelligence. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">Today I talk about <b>flexibility</b>.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">For those wondering, this picture was taken on my way home from work today at 21:05pm. In actual fact, I was supposed to finish my shift at 20:00pm. To understand why I didn’t leave work till it was almost going on 21:00pm , you must first understand something else. A typical company would have different departments, each with their own distinct roles and set of tasks to complete for the working day. In the hospitality and retail sector, these varying departments don’t work in isolation of one another.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">True understanding of team work would bring you to the knowledge that there is a bigger picture here. A landscape where each section works together to add to the complete whole.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">With that in mind we can proceed to my story. So, I’m working in my section which specialises on cheese and charcuterie. I make various platters and also serve nibbles like crackers and olives. My section is right beside the bar, which makes sense, cheese and wine go well and pies and beer go well. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">Already we are short staffed and I notice a queue beginning to build up over at the bar. Things are quieter over at my end and I go over to help at the bar where the only member of staff there is the store’s hire hand for the day. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">When we regain control of the queue, the duty manager sends the hire hand away for hislunch break. This leaves just another colleague and I to stretch ourselves between the two sections (speciality and the bar). The hire hand returns at ten to eight and it is only then that my colleague goes for her own lunch break. For those of you wondering, I had already been on mine, around about 4pm just before the evening rush hour.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">So, there is one person at the bar and since my colleague has been sent away for her break, I am now the only one at the speciality section. I think to myself, perhaps my manager had forgotten that I was due to clock out at 8pm. Having closed the store working a 12:00 - 23:00pm five nights the prior week, I was so very looking forward to having an early finish today. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">Without much fuss I understood about covering for each others backs. I understood that we were all working together, representing the brand and delivering excellent customer service. This heightened understanding of team work is what made me stay.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">Technically I could have clocked out and gone home, technically I had finished my shift. In spite of this, I was flexible, ready to adapt to the changing situation, with a willingness to go above and beyond what one might at first expect of me. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">I say all this to say that, in this new technological revolution, flexibility is a crucial attribute. And although I have only spoken on a small angle of the skill, there are various other ways one can exercise flexibility. It’s all fair and well to acknowledge the usefulness of these skills, but as I’ve also explained, these skills require a heightened understanding of other skills. It is this awareness about our surroundings, the rapidly changing situations and our ability to be flexible and act accordingly, that sets us apart from the programmed robots that are soon taking over our working world. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">If you made it this far, I really do appreciate it.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText"; font-size: 17pt;">As always, I’ll </span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"><br /></span>
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">I’m not going to apologise for my absence. As much as it’s nice to have people read and enjoy my thoughts on things. This blog is really for <b><i>me</i></b>. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">From a tender age I’ve always enjoyed keeping diaries. Not to say that I’ve had top-secret secrets that were for no ones eyes but mine. It’s just that, I enjoyed getting down my feelings in a mode that felt most comfortable when confiding in an actual person felt more like self sabotage. I know right ! Talk about anxiety! </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">So yeah, I often write when I don’t know what I think until I’ve read what I’ve said. Sometimes certain things won’t seem to make much sense when it’s bottled up and jumbled around in my head. Drawing together the dots is a lot more easier when there’s a page from which you can make the connections. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">Today I want to write about my thoughts on graduating. It’s amazing to think that all my life up until now I’ve worked so hard to be in this position where I can stand and call myself a </span><span class="s2" style="font-family: ".sfuitext-bold"; font-size: 17pt; font-weight: bold;">graduate</span><span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">. My journey here was far from easy. With multiple distractions, disappointments, self-doubt and discouragement. I’m proud to say “Thank you Jesus!” And “Mama I made it!” </span><br />
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">I wanted to be a success story. One that was so eager to roll off my parents tongue. One that I myself would actually blow a trumpet to. One that graced all about me, such that favours from people fell at my feet. I’ve realised now one thing more than ever, I don’t want that </span><span class="s3" style="font-family: ".sfuitext-italic"; font-size: 17pt; font-style: italic;">kind</span><span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">of limelight. God forbid I loose the essence of what it means to be myself in hope of gaining other people’s approval.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">Over the past few years I’ve battled internally about deleting my Instagram. The whole idea of posting about ones successes and the high parts of life has become quite toxic to me. This is nothing new of course, social media has this effect on lots of people. It subconsciously mounts pressure to be “great”, pressure to be like </span><span class="s3" style="font-family: ".sfuitext-italic"; font-size: 17pt; font-style: italic;">everyone e</span><span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">lse. I put great in quotations because I also have an issue with how society is increasingly defining what it means to be successful or to be great in life. (But I digress - a theme you’ll notice quite frequently in most of my work)</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">After exams I had the overwhelming relief of university being over and the feeling of ‘what’s next.’ It seemed like everyone had already secured themselves a great graduate position at a great firm. And would proceed to spend these remaining weeks having a great summer holiday, traveling the world and having great fun.</span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">I began to panic because I quickly realised that I wasn’t as prepared for post graduation as everyone else had seemed. I wasn’t yet lucky in securing my great graduate job at a great firm, neither did I have the funds to spend my summer traveling to great cities and having great fun. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"></span><br /></div>
<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">A month and some weeks had passed and I received my university degree results. This lowkey made my blues feel worse as I felt like I had more of a reason to panic about not being in the position that people of my “calibre” were at. I graduated and although It was nice to be surrounded by my loved ones, I think my brothers can testify to my inner stress I felt on that day. Everything went by </span><span class="s3" style="font-family: ".sfuitext-italic"; font-size: 17pt; font-style: italic;">soooooo</span><span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>quickly. Till today I don’t think I’ve even properly soaked it all in. Perhaps terrified in disguise is the brute caption of how I really got through the day. </span></div>
<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 20.3px;">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">I’m laughing as I write, not because any of this is funny but because I’m realising how gloomy this post is slowly sounding - which is lowkey not my intention </span><span class="s4" style="font-family: ".applecoloremojiui"; font-size: 17pt;">😅</span><span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;"> </span></div>

<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">And now for the swift revival- the eureka moment at which the reader gets the message. The bit that you take away as an inspiring read. </span><br />

<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".sfuitext"; font-size: 17pt;">So yeah, post graduating I’m still feeling like time is escaping me. Like I’ve done well but there’s still a lot to do. And in some regard that’s perfectly normal. I’m ambitious at heart and like being constantly on the go. I naturally seek ways to be and do better. Yet, in the same token , I have to understand that every path is unique, every story different. My measure of success shouldn’t be based on somebody else’s.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I've just done my last washday of the month and thought it was about time to share with you all what I received in this month in my Treasure Tress Box. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It came with a card that detailed all the products with recommendations of how they are to be used. I thought this was really nice, it’s definitely perfect for someone who’s new to the whole natural hair care journey. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So what did I get?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
First up was the matching Moisture Rich Cocoa Butter and Peppermint Oil shampoo and conditioner by Palmers. They were full sized products and the scent instantly reminded me of the chocolate After Eights ! The shampoo has a creamy consistency and was a pearly cream shade. I did find that it took me three washes until I was satisfied that my hair was cleansed. I will say that the shampoo is great for when there isn’t any buildup in your hair but you just want to soothe the scalp. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The accompanying conditioner smelt the same way and has a thicker paste like consistency. It squeezes out the tube and when left on the hair for 10mins my hair felt über soft! I was a little disappointed with the amount of product that’s in the tube because I found that I really need to squeeze a lot out to coat my hair. It’s thick and does not have any slip , so I would advise wetting your hair a bit before you apply. I wouldn’t call he product a conditioner, as it seemed more like a mask to me. All in all I did use up 2/3rds of the product these past two weeks. If I ever feel desperate for restoration to my hair, I wouldn’t mind falling back on this up. Below is a picture of what my hair looked like with the conditioner sitting in. I did not aid it’s absorption by applying heat but I’m sure this would maximise the benefits of the products to my hair.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Moving on to the styling products, this box came with a Leave In conditioner from Activilong. This is the Actiforce Sapote and Black castor oil leave in for frizzy and kinky hair. I found that this best applied to damp ( but more on the dry side ) hair. It leaves no grease yet adds suppleness to my 4b/c kinks. I absolutely loved using this . The final step is to seal with the oil, and this box came with Love Row Naturals Hair Amour in ‘Flora Blossom’ . I was intrigued by this oil because of the light blend of oils used. It has almond, grape seed, jojoba , castor oil and their essential oil blends. This is my FAVOURITE product from the box. My hair thoroughly enjoyed it despite not being the thick and heavy oil that I’m used to applying into my hair. The smell is quite fresh and herbal. I must confess it does remind me of washing up liquid but not in a repulsive way. It did make my scalp tingle a bit so I knew it was working ! My hair felt nourished and these two weeks I’ve seen greater shine and lustre.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
To style I tried something new last week and did a hanging Bantu knot on braids. When I took those down my hair was still moisturised and despite being heavy handed my hair was bouncy and light. It didn’t feel weighed down at all. I find that the oil and leave in are a perfect addition to my hair care journey and I’m exited to see what next month has in store for me! </div>
<br />
Lastly there was a swivel stick of the Palmers Cocoa Butter. At first I thought this was a lip balm - because to be fair that’s what was written on the front. However after a day of applying it onto my lips and something not feeling right I decided to read up on the ingredients. I compared it with my actual full sized Cocoa Butter by Palmers and noted that the list was the EXACT same. Ingredients were just listed in a varying order. Now that I know that, the butter is handy for when I’m going out and don’t feel like carrying a heavy jar or cream. I can just pop this into my handbag and be on my merry way!<br />
<br />
As always guys, if you haven't already done so, subscribe over on the Treasure Tress website so you too can receive a box full of goodies!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have no words to describe how unravelling my braids made me feel on Wednesday morning. This is the first time I’m starting to appreciate shrinkage. It makes my hair appear fuller and denser which is awesome considering the fact that I naturally have thin strands. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At first I thought, 'this is going to be a disaster', because my hair hadn't fully dried like I thought It had. This meant that most of it was still a bit damp- but it held to the braidout regardless! <br />
<br />
I went in to university that morning feeling like a brand new woman! Take a look at the photos below to see why!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Since incorporating finger detangling into my hair care routine, I've noticed reduced breakage. This makes sense because combs and brushes are prone to snagging on the hair strands. When you have a lot of knots and tangles, a heavy-handed use of a comb can pull out extra hair strands along with the knot. Not only does this stunt length retention, but it aggravates the scalp. It is essential to detangle one's hair, but the best way to do so is when you aren't in a rush and approach your hair in a gentle and loving manner. The aim is to untangle the hair and get ride of knots. My hair is often easily mistaken for free-form dreads when I don't detangle it regularly!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Whilst on my hair journey of love this month, I noticed that my twists were quite frizzy. Perhaps I wasn't finger-detangling my hair properly, but I wasn't so fussed about it when wearing my hair in loose twists- I guess the frizz added to the look! However, this week I have worn my hair in chunky twists with a flat-twist side fringe. It didn't look as cute to have puffy frizzy twists on day one! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To combat that, I decided to get a detangling brush, to smooth in my styling products, such that the product is evenly distributed throughout my hair strands. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yesterday, I went in search for a Denman brush. This is the holy grail of the natural hair community for detangling and evenly distributing product through the hair. To my dismay, the bristles on that brush were hard and I couldn't phantom how I was supposed to rake something so hard into my soft hair. As well as that, the bristles of the brush were tightly packed together- and we all know small tooth combs aren't good for natural hair, so why get a small toothed brush? I know that some naturals, pull out the bristles from every other row, to make the Denman brush less dense, but what's the point? They cost about £10 and then I'm going to spend my time taking out bristles!? - No thank you !</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I stumbled upon this Gorgol brush in TK MAXX and fell in love instantly!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The brush is made from 100% wood that is derived from well-managed forests. It's narrow headed with a comfortable handle. The cushion is 100% rubber and the bristles are plastic with a rounded top. There are five rows which makes it wide toothed! The brush can be used wet or dry. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlpZi4pqr5ZkFXUoluQ_J87AsXVwQAY1Z5h-vUYNiODrNm8z3zeVWTGr9kLkP3He-28dQ5RvLBKBt3cSx9q7ZVS0nFzs5anKTQkp_VW78F5OIosC9tl5HzsJurznoF__3yDH51cZRN8q0/s1600/IMG-0564.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlpZi4pqr5ZkFXUoluQ_J87AsXVwQAY1Z5h-vUYNiODrNm8z3zeVWTGr9kLkP3He-28dQ5RvLBKBt3cSx9q7ZVS0nFzs5anKTQkp_VW78F5OIosC9tl5HzsJurznoF__3yDH51cZRN8q0/s640/IMG-0564.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When used on my hair, the brush glides through my strands. Of course it pulls out the shed hairs, but I made sure to gently brush through small sections at a time. It also doubles as a scalp massager, the rounded pins and cushioned base make it truly relaxing. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To clean I put it under cool running water and rubbed away the residue from my oils and butters. Then I placed it face down to dry so that the water could drain out. This would hopefully ensure that the gum which secures the cushion to the wood, does not wear away too quickly.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you didn't already know, L.C.O / L.O.C is one of the most popular methods for moisturising natural hair! Here are the products I use and the order in which I've been applying it into my strands. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
LIQUID</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I mist my hair with my tea spritz. I'll be making a post soon about what I put inside my tea spritz so stay tuned! My hair LOVES this! I mist it through my strands focusing on my roots and then on my ends. I prefer a mist as the water is concentrated and dampens my hair as opposed to leaving it drenched. This way I don't experience drastic shrinkage. Usually I've been keeping my hair in loose twists and would squeeze in the tea spritz. My hair feels supple and soft within seconds! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
CREAM</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To retain the moisture from my tea concoction, I apply my favourite leave-in conditioner. The Olive Oil & Mango Butter by Elasta QP is simply amazing! Not only does it glide onto my strands but it melts in and smells divine! I've found that this product lasts for up to two days after application! I smell it as I swish my head! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
OILS</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I seal everything up with 100% African Shea Butter. My hair has loved Shea Butter for several years. I take a little and massage it into my palms to warm it up. Once melted I smooth it through my strands- focusing on my ends and roots. Because of the weight of it, It counts as my oil. As an extra finisher , I lightly apply my hair growth oil to coat my strands. This doesn't smell pleasant so I use very little so as to not mask out the Leave in Conditioner. Also I've found that too much can be drying on my hair. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the method I've been doing to keep my hair moist during the week. Its quick and simple, with minimal effort. My scalp massaging brush is on hand if I need to apply oil to my scalp. Also I enjoy using the infinity plastic hair bobble to put my hair into a bun as it doesn't leave bends in my hair. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do you guys use any of the products mentioned above? Let me know what method you've been using to keep your hair moisturised during the week. If you tried out this method, comment down below how it went for you!</div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
It's very rare that I finish a product and actually consider repurchasing it. So far the only product I have religiously repurchased is shea butter and olive oil. On my mums birthday I bought her the M.O.M by African Royale, which I had previously done an <a href="http://throughmercyseyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/5-moisturisers-that-shook-my-regimen.html" target="_blank">initial review</a> on. I absolutely love the product, it's still the best I've tried to moisturise my dry hair. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Today I come to you all with a protein based deep conditioner. Now I must admit, I probably bought this way back in 2013/14 when I'd sporadically attempted to treat my hair. Unfortunately I lacked consistency, hence me only finishing the tub now! - I know right, shocking!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So, here's the review:</div>
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Product</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Texture</b>- It's a light silky texture which Is sure to absorb nicely into your strands - especially If you've got medium porosity hair like me! When I took a bit of the product and rubbed it into the back of my palm, It melted away within seconds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Consistency - </b>It's like a body cream. So not as liquid-y as a lotion but then not as thick like a butter. This makes it easy to scoop out and distribute through your hair. Each strand is equally coated. As I used the last of the product today, I used a spatula to help scrape the product from the sides of the container. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Smell</b>- Like olive oil and egg with a perfume. It's not off-putting, I've always liked the scent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Colour</b>- Yellow, polka dotted with very dark green herbs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<b>Cost</b> - At the time of purchasing, this cost me £1.79 from Jinny's in Peckham. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Process</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I started out with freshly washed hair that was damp as I'd allowed it to dry in my microfiber turban towel. My hair was also in sections - loose twists to be exact. I started with the right side of my head and from the back. I'd already mixed a teaspoon of avocado oil into the Hair Mayonnaise, then with a spatula, scooped some out and applied to my hair , working from the ends up. As I was practically running out, I decided to focus mainly on the ends of my hair during application. Then I loosely twisted each section back up and flipped my hair up and let it sit under my shower cap for 30mins. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I rinsed with lukewarm water in the shower. The product was easy to come out, and it has great slip! If you're someone that enjoys detangling your hair whilst it's soaking wet, you will fall in love with the slip of this product also. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Results</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I experienced minimal shedding, practically none at all. Perhaps that was due to the fact that I did not detangle my hair and rinsed my hair under the running water whilst holding it taunt with one hand and squeezing the water through the strands with the other. As well as this, I had spent the week moisturising my hair with my tea spritz which contains the likes of green tea and amla for strengthening my hair. I also did not feel the need to detangle at this stage in my routine as my hair had not shrunken to a tangled matted state. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
SOFTNESS! My hair honestly felt like butter. Even after thoroughly rinsing out the deep conditioner, I ran the water through my strands again simply because I was enjoying the feel of the water glide through my strands! This is honestly my BEST deep conditioning experience yet and I'm sure of maintaining consistency this time around to witness not only immediate results but the overall improved health of my hair. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

Is it a keeper?</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Now if I did not like this conditioner I would not have kept it in my arson up until now. Although It does contain sulphates, parabens and mineral oils, the first two ingredients are water and glycerine. I believe this really helps to moisturise the hair, whilst the egg is able to add protein to the hair. Now the egg is very low on the list of ingredients so I'm not sure about the potency of the results. As I mentioned earlier, my hair could've felt strengthened as a result of my tea spritz. Whilst olive oil is the main oil allowing the moisture to penetrate into the strands, this product also contains carrot seed oil and safflower seed oil. The listed herbs are oregano, rosemary, horsetail extract and nettle. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I know that ultimately sulphate free products are the best for natural hair as it allows the hair to be cleansed without stripping it of too much moisture. This product isn't sulphate free however, I don't plan to incorporate protein deep conditioning too much into my regimen. This is especially because, I am using the Ayurveda hair growth oil and tea spritz. I also have the JBCO Strengthen and Restore leave in conditioner by Shea Moisture. For this reason, I don't mind repurchasing this protein deep conditioner. It has always worked well for my hair, both strengthening and moisturising. </div>

Hey fruities!<br />
<br />
So lately I’ve been getting the itch. The itch to do more with my hair. Okay scratch that, more <i><b>for</b></i> my hair* Last summer I wore my hair out in beautiful updo styles inspired by the Fulani people. They are a Yoruba tribe in Nigeria, and the women are traditionally known for wearing their natural hair with beads and shells. I’ll insert some pictures below and also show you some of the stuff I came up with aswell. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
During the summer months I learnt to embrace my hair more than ever before. Now, I’m not new to wearing my natural hair out. Growing up my mother somewhat forbid me from putting in to my hair extensions or “attachment” as the Nigerians like to call it back then ! As I grew older, I felt slightly childish , wearing my hair in braids or “dodo plaits” as some would rather call it. However, wearing it out for most of the summer and receiving so many compliments , encouraged me to fall back in love with my kinky texture. I learnt to have fun and experiment with styles that kept my ends protected from rubbing on my clothing. I also adopted a moisturising routine , which I’d share more about it another time.<br />
<br />
So that was a few months ago, where am I now? I returned to uni to begin my third year with crochet braids. They were the curly ones by Aftress in the style “water wave”. I took those extensions out just before my birthday, so I’d say mid November . From then till mid December I had my hair in jumbo plaits under a wig. Then I installed Senegalese twists with Marley hair . Now I’ve been wearing my hair out for a couple weeks and I love it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Reflecting back and setting goals for the future, I’d like to do more for my hair. My hair needs extra TLC if it’s going to flourish and make noticeable improvements by this summer. I realised that my length retention has been stagnant in the past couple years and I’d really like to break through that. So, as opposed to adopting new styles and such, I’ve decided to embark on a new journey, a journey of love , patience and tender care. I’ll go into more depths in the next blog post, but firstly I just wanted to come out here and explain why I’m transitioning from doing more with my hair to doing more for it. The difference with doing more for the hair is that you put your hair first. A plant that is properly nourished and cared for with flourish! Rather than tying to bend my hair to suit my tempo I’m going to take a step back and really listen to what it needs / wants to do.<br />
<br />
I’ve realised that this probably sounds very hippie-dippy, but I assure you this change of mindset will work wonders. My plan is to begin my new journey in March and then see it through till June. Despite my busy uni schedule I’ll keep you guys in the know - as to what I get up to on this journey and how it’s working out for me. And with any journey in life, if you fall you have to muster the strength and courage to pick yourself up and keep on going!<br />
<br />
As always my lovelies,<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Primark Mules, £14</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I found these beautiful Gucci inspired mules in Primark two weeks ago! But it looked like they were all sold out because I could only find one pair and in one size! I slipped it on and it fit perfectly! It wasn't like those slides that say they're in your size but once you put them on you can't quite wiggle all your feet into the shoe but, which means that your heel ends up hanging off the back! Luckily , as you can see, I didn't experience that with these shoes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would say that they are a wide feet so size down if you generally have small/ slim feet. I am wearing a size 7/40 in this picture. This mule also has a play on the Miu Miu slide sandals which have also been a popular go-to for many this summer. Incorporating the faux pearls against the dark suede black mule definitely gives this shoe a high-end feel! It's classy, elegant and certainly aesthetically pleasing to the eye.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Being a tall girl, the heel height and shape on this mule is absolute perfection! It shouldn't be more than 3inches and is a block heel which makes it super comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It's a nice statement piece to spruce up any outfit without being too OTT!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now here's the sad part... as much as I adore these shoes - with the amazing price point of £14, once I got home I realised that a pearl on the left shoe was missing. Having searched frantically around my bedroom I realised that I had bought it defected! Writing this, I could've gone in to Hobbycraft to find a small pearl and glue gun it on to the shoe!! Well I didn't think about that at the time and returned the shoes. I'm gutted to say the least as I couldn't find another pair so I'm guessing it's not in their AW17 season. However, I shall be on the hunt for another affordable fashionable price like this one!</div>

Our schedule a blank canvas waiting for their desires to ink up all the slots.<br />
<br />
"I'm bored," you sigh, "entertain me".<br />
You wait yet again for the 'they' to create for you their version of fun, in the hope that you too could smile for a moment.<br />
<br />
A moment so short<br />
Where's the worth in that?<br />
<br />
Now don't get me wrong, it's all well and good- to be an open mind, free spirit , ready-to-try-new-things type of person.<br />
<br />
I'm speaking to those that get too-<br />
<br />
Carried away with the bustle to please others,<br />
So much so that we forget about the 'me',<br />
We forget about the 'I'.<br />
<br />
Honey it's your life too,<br />
Don't forget to do <i>you</i> boo!<br />

<br />
I'm going to share with you the top 3 ways you can get things done!<br />
<br />
Okay, so many at times we get to the end of the day, we're just about snuggling under the duvet and then it hits us - Oh snap, I forgot to do (xyz)...<br />
<br />
I always thought to myself, how is it that we manage to let time slip away from us every single day. I mean, with 24 hours there's only so much lazying around one can do! - right?<br />
<br />
Now I know, I know, there's always a pile of things in the back of our minds that we want to do, but we either A. Never end up getting it done or B. We start but never get round to finishing.<br />
<br />
Nobody is perfect, I myself am guilty of falling into this cycle.<br />
<br />
The first issue here is that we store all the things we want to do in the back of our minds. This is a major pitfall, as by doing so we end up reducing the importance of this activity and in turn we begin to increase the importance of something else. This is done subconsciously, as when you are not prioritising what you really want to achieve you fill up that precious time by doing something that's completely irrelevant eg. binge watching Game of Thrones. (You're alone on this one guys haha!)<br />
<br />
<br />
So, tip number one : <b>PRIORITISE</b><br />
<br />
It's simply not enough to keep the activity you really want to do eg. write that essay, in your mind. You have to make a priority out of it. You will know that you've made it so, once you've filled every single space in your day, which you would otherwise have tweeted <i>"I'm bored someone entertain me"</i>,with working on writing that essay. When you prioritise, you maximise every opportunity in your day towards achieving that goal.<br />
<br />
It's like a baby of yours. For the short period of time that you're working towards completing this task, you give it your full attention. By doing so, you are not only choosing this task first when it comes to carrying out your day to day activities, but you're also getting through the task faster.<br />
<br />
Trust me on this one guys, you will find that the task that would ordinarily have taken you about two weeks to complete, could get through your itinerary in about half the time.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<br />
My second tip for you guys is to <b>SET DAILY MILESTONES</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I cannot stress this enough. Honestly you guys, if you want to be able to get things done you have to realise that there are times where you have to take smaller bites. A lot of times we have this task that we want to do but we crazily fool ourselves that we can get it done overnight.<br />
<br />
Firstly, you need to know the type of activity that you're dealing with. Some can be acomplished in a matter of hours, others weeks or even months!<br />
<br />
Let's go back to the 'writing an essay' scenario. If your deadline is in three weeks time but you've left the writing of your essay till the night before, don't be mad when you suddenly have this brain crash and mental breakdown at the realisation that you've a couple of hours to submit yet you can't get past the introduction. (Sorry no sympathy from me on this one !)<br />
<br />
I personally like to take FULL advantage of those three weeks by breaking down this seemingly huge task into bite-able portions. Week one is the research phase where I would typically do all the necessary reading, formulate my argument then structure the body of the essay. Week two is the writing phase. Here I would tackle a paragraph a day, this way I'm working through my essay in sections and I'm not getting overwhelmed. Lastly, in the final week before submission, I am editing this first draft, tallying it up with the marking scheme and ensuring that it is of great quality.<br />
<br />
That was just an example, but if you'd like for me to go in depth as to how to write great essays then let me know in the comments section below.<br />
<br />
As you could see, tasks become more doable once tackled in smaller bites. Also you have the joy of going to bed each night with the feeling of having accomplished something.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The last hing I'm going to share with you guys today is to <b>TAKE TACTICAL BREAKS</b> <br />
<br />
So, once you've prioritised the activities and broken them down into sections it is highly important that you don't forget the importance of taking breaks. Now the reason why I've termed it 'tactical' is because, these are not going to be the kind of breaks that turn into naps that turn into never-returning-to-the-task. Oh no! These breaks are the kind that motivate you to get through the daily milestone, whilst rewarding you for the session just completed.<br />
<br />
This tip works exceptionally well for those tasks that poise as being boring and tedious but you just have to get through them. So if you're a foodie like I am, treat yourself to dinner at your favourite restaurant once you get through the task. This would not only motivate you to focus so that you're able to finish and head into town but its also a nice way to cool off for the long day's work. However, don't over do it! If you know you have to be up in the morning to work on the second part of your task, don't stay up all night because your favourite restaurant happens to also be a bar/club after 11pm. - (Just saying !)<br />
<br />
That brings me to the end of my TOP 3 ways to ensure that you GET IT DONE!<br />
<br />
Please do share, leave a comment and let me know some of the other tips you'd like to add to this list.<br />
<br />
As always,<br />

So today I decided to prepare a classic favourite of mine... Fish Pepper Soup! This is an easy and simple recipe and it takes about twenty mins in total to complete. Firstly, you want to clean the fish. I am using my favourite Tilapia but another go-to for me is Panga fish (despite its controversy). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I like to scrape the body to get rid of the scales and also ensure that the fish is degutted. Then I pour hot water onto the fish, this will help prevent the fish from breaking up into tiny pieces when you start cooking it. Remove the hot water immediately. As I was using frozen fish, It was now easier for me to cut up the fish as seen in the images below:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also trimmed off the spiky parts, the head and the tail. Put the fish in a boil to one side and begin to chop up one onion, a clove of garlic and one habanero pepper. Alternatively you could put these into a blender for a finer finish. I don't mind seeing the bits in the soup.</div>

Then you want to bring the fish to boil in a pot with one and a half cups of water and the onions. Once the fish begins to boil, add your salt, a teaspoon of curry powder, a teaspoon of chicken powder / a bouillon cube. I also put three maggi cubes however two would've been just fine.</div>

I love to experiment a bit with the seasonings that I add but I've found that this combo works the best for the days when you're in a hurry but want a tasty but filling Nigerian snack. I have more recipes that I've been polishing and will be sharing with you all in due time!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
So, as you may or may not already know, I actually started properly taking care of my natural hair a few years back. In saying that though, there were a LOT of things that I wasn't doing as a so called 'naturalista'. I didn't stick to any particular regimen, to be honest I hardly had a regimen (Okay to all you Natural Hair Nazi's - don't shoot me!). To make matters 'worse'- as some might thing, I didn't have all products such as Eco-Styler Gel, Aloe Vera, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Cantu Shea Butter etc... These are some of the products that 'all' natural hair girls supposedly must own. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp20evdkZmr6dTXddp6kXS4FH3oL4TJTmwMcd-r8bKhmWxPClg5lrbdhvdGRtVwb2vaScVCKaf6dG3zM66tICE3YxnEKF2h2925ueqlwOpHVR1s0eHhqV1GCOqvwVbwNXybOD34GPGZ4I/s1600/IMG_1751.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp20evdkZmr6dTXddp6kXS4FH3oL4TJTmwMcd-r8bKhmWxPClg5lrbdhvdGRtVwb2vaScVCKaf6dG3zM66tICE3YxnEKF2h2925ueqlwOpHVR1s0eHhqV1GCOqvwVbwNXybOD34GPGZ4I/s640/IMG_1751.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyways, I'm rambling here too much. The point is, I was natural but didn't conform to any of the natural hair 'rules'. Has my hair suffered or stunted in growth as a result - no! But what I am about to share with you is my recent impromptu decision to incorporate sulphate-free products into my not-so-formulated-or-adhered-to-regimen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Process</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To wash my hair I sectioned my hair into six, doing a loose braid at the root and then twisting up the length of the hair. I used an ouchless hair band to secure the ends just so that the twists didn't unravel during the wash. I loosely braided the root just so I have room to massage the shampoo into my scalp but also so that the twist didn't unravel from the top. I did the wash twice, focusing more on my scalp and allowing the suds to run down the twists.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Results</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>5/5</b></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This lathers up just as nicely as a sulphate shampoo does. I found that my curls were more elongated and defined so I didn't experience as much matting that comes with shrinkage. My hair was left feeling very soft and manageable- I almost didn't want to follow through with a conditioner! Honestly It has made me feel very excited about washing my hair. My hair really responded well to this product! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The Product</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Texture- </b>Smooth </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Consistency</b>- Body Lotion</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Smell</b> - Strong Divine , (Patchouli perhaps??)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Colour</b>- Very Light Orchid</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Cost</b>- £3.99 for 516ml</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Process</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To slightly damp hair I applied a good amount of this through the section of my hair and then braided my hair down. At first I did some braids with soley this product but on the last two sections, I coated the ends with raw shea butter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Results</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>3.5/5</b></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This product absorbs well into my hair strands. I was hoping to witness an immediate defining of my coils and when this didn't really happen I felt slightly disappointed. Perhaps It was because I was working with fairly large sections and I didn't set my hair with a blowdry as the instructions on the tub suggest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"For tight, scrunchy curls or coils, blowdry hair on a light setting with a diffuser."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
However, the scent of the product lasted for three days on my hair which I was really happy about. Also, the product did not leave any white residue on my hair. Despite the fact that I applied so much onto each section of my hair, It didn't feel as though my hair was greasy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Perhaps to achieve the definition I'm looking for, I'd have to try another type of product that's thicker like a gel almost. I will probably just use this as a leave-in-moisturising conditioner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
However, when I later unravelled the braids after two days, my hair still felt soft and moisturised. Some parts of my 4B coils were defined but the most part remained afro looking. I was very pleased with the fact that my hair was stretched out but not dry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>1. The Problem</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm tired of being the nearly there girl. Recently I discovered a bank of unfinished novels and unedited vlogs, a blog which I had geared towards my writing but never saw it through. I'm guilty of starting up projects but never getting round to finishing them, This blog is another example of that. I started it in <a href="https://throughmercyseyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/when-i-leapt.html" target="_blank">August 2016</a> but only wrote until October, somewhat ditching it on the wayside. I said that I was tired of being a 'Jack-of-all-trades', and expressed my excitement in taking that leap of faith to pursue something that my heart desires. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Writing has always been at the back of my mind, but in suppressing myself I forgot how much I enjoy doing it! Last night I was up until 3 AM, reading one of my old works - <a href="https://www.wattpad.com/story/941860-unwanted-desire" target="_blank">Unwanted Desire</a> - which I started writing in 2012. I was amazed to note how I'd almost gotten a thousand reads on It and votes as recent as. What further amazed me was the fact that I had written about 10,000 words in 5 sittings. For a moment, I couldn't believe the speed at which I was writing this novel and I felt ashamed at the fact that I had left so many people hanging simply because I'd given up on the story. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>2. The Recovery</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also found that this was a common trend with all my work. I'd develop such an intense passion for a story idea and a couple of chapters into the beginning I'd stop writing. It's one thing to discover a problem but its another thing to find a solution. It's crucial that one is able to identify their problem, Isolate it in order to draw out the causes of the problem so that an effective solution can be utilised. I decided to research different ways to write novels faster and overcoming writers block. Now there are TONS and TONS of information out there. This is a struggle that many writers go through. From the words of Sandra Tsing Loh,</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"When faced with writer's block, lower your standards and keep going!"</blockquote>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I quickly realised that there is no 'quick fix'. There isn't some magical secret to which only the professional authors are acquainted with. Writing is an art. I'm a firm believer of that. In order to be successful, I realised that I had to lower my standards. I was expecting way to much from myself. I felt that I could just open a Word Doc on Monday and type a manuscript of perfection by Wednesday to have published and printed by Friday. It was just unrealistic. For me personally, I lacked structure. I learnt the crucial importance of having a sound plot, well developed characters and a story outline. All this while I was diving in blindly - dare I say, to the Word Doc. and it was to no surprise that I'd find myself not being able to write "fast". It was to no surprise that after a month or so I'd be stricken with 'writers block'. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There Is a lot that I've found and because this Is basically and intro, I'd like to save my tip-sharing for my upcoming posts on the matter. Please do stick around for that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, how does one finish their project? Well, three components are needed:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. <u>A PLAN</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can not get very far without a sense of direction and that's a FACT! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. <u>REALISTIC MINI GOALS</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Honestly, setting mini goals will not only help you to feel as though you are edging closer and closer towards your ultimate aim for the project but it also reduces the workload into bite-sized chunks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. <u>WILLPOWER</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
"There is no better motivation than that which cometh from within" </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
-<i> Mercy Amadi</i> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(I just made that quote up ! )</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWJjOLIZQzcw8abLuHwu5mV5qFxLbhHzMkaSlmykZevuuGLCexPumbLtJk5E6sifOhHg8k4BosAkpP9buIRD-e1TnL83btV__OMSVtx8bknNenF4jeWGp3dg2B2iGMw7C4IWnIToOBPfk/s1600/Don%2527t+give+up.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWJjOLIZQzcw8abLuHwu5mV5qFxLbhHzMkaSlmykZevuuGLCexPumbLtJk5E6sifOhHg8k4BosAkpP9buIRD-e1TnL83btV__OMSVtx8bknNenF4jeWGp3dg2B2iGMw7C4IWnIToOBPfk/s640/Don%2527t+give+up.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You are going to want to give up. Don't.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As always my loves, STAY FRUITFUL! Hopefully I can be more consistent with my work. Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers - we're all in this together!</div>

nothing less than that will start her day,</div>

with clouds so full they begin to spray,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She cooks up a mighty storm</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
sweet spices in the air take form,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There's fried rice, yam stew and corn</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
But soon enough he halts to a belt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
"Stretch out your hand you're about to be dealt-" </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Momma steps in, to semi- rescue her son</div>

to protect and to care, no one else can claim that prize.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
She serves up dessert with due perseverance,</div>

Scooping up the seedy flesh from the passion fruit's cup<br />
with my tongue, I'm sucking it up! </div>

She truly is the neck of the house</div>

an uncontended fact, silently approved by her spouse.</div>

To all the mother's that didn't know</div>

Is none other but that which is found,</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I should apologise in advance because this post features scrumptious looking food. I haven't yet earned the bragging rights of being a foodie. I do however enjoy a good meal and I take pride in my creative recreations of the food snaps I see floating around Pintrest and Instagram. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today I decided to share with you all three wonderful secrets about digesting a wholesome breakfast regularly- if not daily (for the rest of your life) ! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1G_1kQhs3Q55W7tumkz9k3yMXCcwxR2BZSTSH3cZCOgldAGSlU7M4g5bkniOoI83jBTQMycvfa8TtVoCi_WOcVOkLQDu74q5BqKmmcnNYM9JX21eakXfbuMKyrYEjRU2jJr2BNhKeWYY/s1600/breakfast-bowl-fruits-raspberries-blueberries.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1G_1kQhs3Q55W7tumkz9k3yMXCcwxR2BZSTSH3cZCOgldAGSlU7M4g5bkniOoI83jBTQMycvfa8TtVoCi_WOcVOkLQDu74q5BqKmmcnNYM9JX21eakXfbuMKyrYEjRU2jJr2BNhKeWYY/s640/breakfast-bowl-fruits-raspberries-blueberries.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>HEALTHY EATING</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Honestly speaking, awakening your system with a nutritiously balanced breakfast would not only taste awesome but also according to , studies discussed by the Journal of the American Dietetic Association eating a healthy breakfast helps you to maintain a healthy body weight. As well as this, there a numerous articles online discussing the benefits of kick-starting your day with a balanced meal at breakfast that is high in fibre, lean protein, fruit and veg, to get the most minerals and vitamins in to your day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ENERGY</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Think about it. Breakfast is the first meal you eat having had a 6-8 hours rest. As such you need to refuel your body in a way that helps you to feel animated. I like to couple my morning breakfast with a light muscle stretch. This proves to be of great benefit when I have morning lectures and so eating well and loosening up my muscles allows me to be bright, active and ready to go. -This should also be a great way to keep awake in class!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>ATMOSPHERE</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Creating the right wholesome ambience in the morning elevates the soul and creates a calm and focused mindset. Praying, listening to motivational music or speaking positive words to yourself are all excellent ways to help achieve this. The morning is a great time to realign yourself so set out goals that you seek to achieve, engage in a short quiet time and the overall atmosphere you allow yourself to settle into will help set your mood for the rest of the day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />

I've defined it a little in the 'Methods' bit down below.<br />
<br />
My top tip for all you guys (including myself), don't leave studying till the last minute!<br />
Countless times before, I'd finish attending a lecture feeling so mind-boggled and I'd tell myself that I'd go back to it in my own time to digest the content slower and to make a better sense of the topic. I seldom listen. What actually happens is that I'd end up having to teach myself the information in a hurry during exam time - so not ideal!!<br />
<br />
Tonight I have my first social as a member for the Cheerleading Stunt Team at my uni (whoop whoop!), as such I decided to release today's episode 15 mins early so as to ensure I had the rest of the evening to prepare for my outing.<br />
<br />
So without further ado....<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks you guys for your support, continue tuning in every Wednesday for an episode from <a href="http://throughmercyseyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/the-ultimate-university-guide-episode-1.html" target="_blank">The Ultimate University Guide</a>!! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<u><br /></u>
Every day you make <b>35,000</b> choices.<br />
<br />
These were the opening lines to an advert on the train to Northampton. For those wandering, the claim was made by Choose Chartered... a financial advice company. I decided to put their claim to the test.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Everyday I make 35,000 choices.<br />
<br />
I get up, ideally before 9am every morning. That is a choice that I've decided to make routine, but I've also got the choice to not get out of bed by 9 and to get up slightly after 9 or perhaps even to get up a couple of minutes into the afternoon.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Okay thats one set, what other set of choices do I make? I decide whether or not to put the heating on before I take my shower so that the room is nice and toasty when I get out of the shower. </div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br />
A couple of seconds into the exercise I soon realised that I make tons of individual choices each day. Some are a matter of protocol - do I go by my usual routine or do I diverge from it? And some are a matter of 'wherever the wind blows' I'll go, aka - YOLO !<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
It then dawned upon me. We are the pilots over every decision that we make in life. There are two types of turbulence. The right source of inspiration is vital.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxcd3SaJvpGJTAOd7U5u4T1HhwtfoFS4_50GFBwceW-B8jOzk17UfC0jx4CtdP-rSzYeuypDeK4RAZ5DLqpXIQR-yDj20EzIuovGmV0VLO1QP3zPobb1RcFKobrfOzd7BHlTpHiOeIwI4/s1600/jet-planes-jet-fly.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxcd3SaJvpGJTAOd7U5u4T1HhwtfoFS4_50GFBwceW-B8jOzk17UfC0jx4CtdP-rSzYeuypDeK4RAZ5DLqpXIQR-yDj20EzIuovGmV0VLO1QP3zPobb1RcFKobrfOzd7BHlTpHiOeIwI4/s640/jet-planes-jet-fly.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. We are the pilots over every decision that we make in life</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Yes it's true. If you're still out there blaming others for the mistakes that you make then you've got it all wrong. You should be so assured of every action that you take over your own life so that whenever things do happen to go wrong, you have yourself to blame for that. Why is this so ideal? - I'll tell you.</div>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
Imagine walking down the corridor and you trip over a stapler. You fall flat on your face. You didn't see it coming and now you want answers.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Now imagine walking down the corridor alert. You're aware of the possible obstructions around you that could hinder you from making it to the end of the corridor. Just like in the first scenario you fall, but you quickly realise what made you stumble - loss of concentration. You are soon back up on your feet. You dust yourself off and continue on your journey.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Swift recoveries occur when you make yourself The Boss. In the first scenario we see a delay, the choice of making it to the end of the corridor is snatched away because now the individual is having to seek remedy. They want to blame someone else for the fall and in doing so they loose a sense of direction. They look for who to dust them off, like a baby that trips over, wailing until its mother comes to kiss them better.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
People that relate to this are often those that go through the day with unfinished choices. A goal is set but not fully fulfilled. Do you rely on others to kiss it all better for you? </div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUgVAX36Vm53lHlWVrmpC1i00UMF48V1W_0FqEgobnDt9DmkPxT4L5uKqdFw-_xB4HMHVqG08gdkwioRkCYQCDXSh4IbWT4XoGhI311BAoN9oIdlJTeUtb8MhzcPKv9eQdmx4z4ru4oEA/s1600/low-angle-view-of-airplane-in-clouds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUgVAX36Vm53lHlWVrmpC1i00UMF48V1W_0FqEgobnDt9DmkPxT4L5uKqdFw-_xB4HMHVqG08gdkwioRkCYQCDXSh4IbWT4XoGhI311BAoN9oIdlJTeUtb8MhzcPKv9eQdmx4z4ru4oEA/s640/low-angle-view-of-airplane-in-clouds.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. There are two types of turbulence</div>
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
First, <i>the sway of distraction</i><br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
This can come in several forms, to name a few - material things and people. I like to call them the winds of distraction because essentially its only aim is to knock you off course and in doing so you (as the pilot) loose a little control. Lost control means that you loose some of the authorship of the choice you happen to be making at that moment in time. </div>
<div dir="ltr">
How do I break this down a little further? Well that steering wheel is now tainted by the glove of the hands of the distraction. Take social media for example. You have a paper to write but can't quite focus on getting it done within a week as your time is snatched away from you from the hours spent scrolling through your Twitter feed. Now in an ideal world, you're back from lectures by 5pm and have had dinner and is ready to study from 6pm. But you only really get into your work at 11pm.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Bad turbulence doesn't give warning , people don't walk about saying "Hi my name is ____ I am going to be a distraction in your life." So we have a choice, the decision is ours , choose not to be swayed by things that will knock you off course.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
A true pilot isn't fazed by the fog.<br />
<br />
See past distraction's momentary delight.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Second, <i>the sway of direction</i><br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
This is a positive wind. Seek advice from mentors , learn from the experience of those who have trodden on that path before. Take retreat- <a href="http://throughmercyseyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/3-of-lifes-most-important-getaways.html" target="_blank">click here</a> to read an earlier post on 3 of Life's Most Important Getaway's.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
This second type of wind should be a source of aid because let's face it, no man knows it all. Many sources talk, finetune through the noise and be wise about which sources you listen to. Take notes where necessary. At times we get pointers and hints which may not be of any use to us in the present but are jewels to our near future. Treasure them for opportunities seldom repeat themselves.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj8KuaTrr2O8ooCCNQmqo5stYWPR_wCqQKBOcvGac006gJ8FQXsdvmmtWQEiWEf4wmq4_59KXJHMq9YtOsEeCfsVvzyIN79QttmjlgNci5_Ttq2GzAScqZI7EhDmoKFaQ6hP0AnyRv7s4/s1600/instabox_201692517025776.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj8KuaTrr2O8ooCCNQmqo5stYWPR_wCqQKBOcvGac006gJ8FQXsdvmmtWQEiWEf4wmq4_59KXJHMq9YtOsEeCfsVvzyIN79QttmjlgNci5_Ttq2GzAScqZI7EhDmoKFaQ6hP0AnyRv7s4/s640/instabox_201692517025776.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div dir="ltr">
Finally, what keeps my aircraft in motion? God. He is the 'lift' that carries me through this journey we call life. You need a driving force for without which you can not possibly keep upright. Choose your source of fuel wisely.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
I'll be posting on confidence in due time and the importance of letting your confidence reside in the Lord. This is key to quick recoveries as I mentioned earlier because God should be our ultimate Rock, not man.<br />
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
Well this is what I have to say about choices. Remember that you are the pilot , powered by God, don't allow your choices to be tainted by the wrong kind of wind. Let me know what you think about this in the comments section down below!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

To be quite frank with you, I get it. We've all been there, ogling over Ariana's snapchats, that she so effortlessly seems to upload, wandering why we weren't graced with beautiful big eyes and a timelessly cute smile. I'm stopping nyself here from saying the heavily cliched "I'd hate to break this to you line", because In all honesty, I am entralled to let you all know that you can start taking BOMB.COM selfies asap! (Well, as soon as you read the 3 major hacks down below)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu_aLYavubmaG4ikg9UN2tSN5cWu1_mIy15eHiLhGcCwRbE4kZScfWKO6Zxzo2EEz7cyiD7m-blv5Qdk3TnoSYYql5CpPRBjZwJTeP24ka7fAFjRkKoMajTs8EbTwWwIFrT56GyxWmtYk/s1600/HowToTakeSelfies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu_aLYavubmaG4ikg9UN2tSN5cWu1_mIy15eHiLhGcCwRbE4kZScfWKO6Zxzo2EEz7cyiD7m-blv5Qdk3TnoSYYql5CpPRBjZwJTeP24ka7fAFjRkKoMajTs8EbTwWwIFrT56GyxWmtYk/s640/HowToTakeSelfies.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. LIGHTING</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In all production media, its absolutely vital that you get the lighting right. Likewise, when taking selfies, on a front facing camera that probably isn't all that great as far as megapixels is concerned, you need to ensure that your pictures are captured in the best lighting so as to clearly depict the subject -(YOU). To achieve this, all you need is to find your nearest source of natural lighting. If indoors a window is a great one to use as a lot of natural light comes flooding in though there. If outdoors, stand in a position whereby you are opposing the sun, (this tip works well when taking non-selfie pictures too!). The sunlight can illuminate your pictures when stood opposite to its subject. In the same token, sunlight can interfere with your pictures making it dark and or difficult to see the subject of your picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. BACKGROUND</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Flee from a noisy background. Essentially when taking selfies the focus is on you- your face and so try to take your pictures in places where the background will not clash with the overall beauty of the picture that you are trying to take. Going for a basic setting and the use of minimal props will help. Try to move away anything that is obstructing your minimal background as this can distract the viewer from gazing at you- the subject!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. EYE CONTACT</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The eyes can so easily set the mood of the photo. As a model, I have mastered the art of smizing- coined by Tyra Banks, it is the ability to smile with your eyes. You therefore don't need to open your mouth wide or move your lips. Primarily, try to focus your eyes on the lens of the camera and not on you phone screen. This makes a major difference to the outcome of you photo as illustrated below:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS3g2tJ1OT6ycMNBf71VJUN44m9zBTQ7qwaLqasMFPFDeM-NQEWiKksMvJRfSVLonSu3jp9NhO1UxQcL32oVh-4mCCQghvdcHO9iA2cLTH2qvY7gQ5pntb0DlVI0kLfEz5rRY_atxQ_bg/s1600/instabox_2016924152342207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS3g2tJ1OT6ycMNBf71VJUN44m9zBTQ7qwaLqasMFPFDeM-NQEWiKksMvJRfSVLonSu3jp9NhO1UxQcL32oVh-4mCCQghvdcHO9iA2cLTH2qvY7gQ5pntb0DlVI0kLfEz5rRY_atxQ_bg/s640/instabox_2016924152342207.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
* 4. MANUAL SETTINGS</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you follow the first three hacks you should be able to take decently great selfies with any device. This means that you don't need to be shooting from a high tech DSLR camera! However, for the perfectionists/ photo-taking fanatics out there, I've added a bonus hack. You can manually change the settings of your camera device to enhance the quality and the overall look and feel of your picture. I was never satisfyed with the front-facing camera on my phone. I'd always find it annoying when taking snapchat photos and the picture came out too grainy and dull or perhaps didn't pick up any light. So I did what any other daring photo-taking fanatic would do, I toggled with the settings! I feel as though this deserves a whole other blog post on its own, but essentially I managed to change the sensitivity of my phones' camera to light via increasing the ISO. This in turn helped my photos to appear brighter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also I alter the White Balance when taking pictures to match with the type of lighting I'm recieving at the time of taking the photo. E.G. When in the kitchen I change the settings to 'fluorecent' as those are the kind of bulbs we have at home in the kitchen. Similarly, when in my bedroom I change the settings to 'warm fluorecent' or 'incandescent'. Having the correct White Balance setting turned on before you take your selfie will ensure that the white in your pictures will be depicted as truly white as opposed to appearing blue or red.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lastly I like to toggle with the sharpness of my photos. Most photo editing software's do offer this effect, and its a nice way to make your picture appear more crisp -as though it was taken on a camera with a higher megapixel. Use this tool with care as you could end up </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

This is the relevant part of Episode 1's content. </div>
<br />
<br />
I decided to write a post on what to take when packing for uni and upload a video on what's currently in my school bag.... During the course of the year I'll do an updated video showing you all what <i>really</i> is in my uni bag. I hope you'd find it interesting to see how my current organised bag stands the test of time throughout the course of the academic year. As you all know, things begin to get quite hectic, with exams and assignments building up, it does get quite difficult to keep your bag organised and light. I usually like to change it up and carry a backpack around with me as opposed to a handbag like the one you'll see below in the video. Well until then, this is what I'm carrying with me now!<br />

Congratulations! You're going to uni this year but need a quick guide on the <i>essential</i> things to pack for uni. You aim to travel light - good call. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Welcome to the first in the <a href="http://throughmercyseyes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/new-series-alert-ultimate-university.html" target="_blank">UUG</a> Series! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's a list of the basic things that you probably should equip yourself with before you move in to uni. I went in with two car loads of stuff and had an awful time trying to move out of my university accomodation by the time the academic year was up. As a result, I thought it wise to help my fellow students to kick start their uni days with the ultimate guide of things to pack- things that <i>actually</i> matter... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are obviously other extra utensils that you'd figure out you'd need along the way but its best to start off with the basics and then build off of that, than to end up with boxes of stuff you never even used, or forgot that you owned.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
It seems like it's been a while right?.... Wrong!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
In actual fact, when I'm not here posting it usually confirms that I am <strike>a</strike> busy <strike>human being</strike> uploading vlogs or videos up on Youtube. I'm yet to get my Mac Air and a faster internet connection, but until then I'll continue firing uploads on my rusty HP Pavilion g6 and the ever-so-slothful Talk Talk Broadband service.<br />
