3 Of Life's Most Important Getaways...

Whether you know this or not, to be honest thank me later, we need to be taking 3 major holidays, regularly if not routinely in our lives. Ask any psychologist out there, I'm pretty sure that they'd agree with my holiday resort package, what I like to call THE COOLDOWN. It's a cooldown because we are essentially doing just that. Its very crucial to take time off whether it be for an hour or two, or perhaps once a month, we need to take time off to deeply rejuvenate ourselves from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

BODY

I doubt you need to be reminded about this one, but taking care of our bodies should be embedded into our daily personal hygiene routines. Here are some extra bits of pampering ideas that you can incorporate into your routines to help refresh yourself.

1. Take a long soak in a bubble bath.
A household favourite of ours is Radox's bubble bath range. I particularly enjoy the Muscle Soak as the mix of sage and sea minerals really help me to feel awakened. They have one titled for each mood eg. Stress Relief, Relaxing etc... So be sure to check them out!

2. Massage
You don't have to wait until you've got an ache before you get a massage! It can be such a quick and easy way to relax, just grab your aunt or sibling, have them watch a few tutorials on Youtube and voila- your very own masseuse at your service.. You're welcome!

3. Wash your hair
I find that this really helps me to cool down. And for those natural hair lista's out there like me, learn to enjoy the washday experience, take delight in unclogging your hair follicles from product build-up. You can also use this as an opportunity to massage your scalp- this would help stimulate the blood circulation in that area thus aiding hair growth!

4. Exercise
There's a lot out there on the benefits of working out regularly. You don't even need to have a gym membership! I like to use Fitness Blender from YouTube which provide professional workouts that can be done from the comfort of your own home.

5. Natural face masks
I'll be doing a separate blog post on this later, featuring how I achieve baby-bottom smooth and clear skin with the simplest and most natural of products.

MIND

What do you fill your mind with? Is it positive, is it motivating? Does it help build you up as a person or improve upon your character?

I like to read. I read a lot. Become a bookworm.

Ever heard the saying 'reading is to the mind, what exercise is to the body' ???
Honestly speaking, there is so much out there to read that can inspire one and challenge one to improve on themselves. You don't have to go through a 400 page book because believe me that could seem daunting and would most likely hinder you from fully reaping the benefits of reading. Endeavour to stimulate your mind mentally, through articles, journals, fun facts in encyclopedias - reading is fun, it takes any shape and form and covers a wide array of interests. There is something for you so give it a go! I'll be releasing a short inspirational book for women this November so keep posted for that!

As well as reading, surround yourself with people that push you to be the best version of yourself. What you open your ears to most certainly has an impact on the way you go about life. This beautiful verse from 1st Corinthians 15:33 says

"Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."

. Check yourself, are you surrounded by evil, unproductive counsel? Make sure that the words that infiltrate your mind are the words which act in accordance to God's perfect will for our lives and also with the plans and goals you have set for yourself. Friends shouldn't be a counterproductive distraction

SOUL

I feel as though I've saved the best till last. On second thoughts, I have. Just as important is is for us to feed our minds, we must also feed our soul. Mankind is not only made up of the physical being, but there is another component which is our spiritual being. I'm sure you're well versed with the saying 'music is the window to the soul', similarly, 'music is the food of the soul'. These are both very true statements, music is able to minister to our inner beings in a way that isn't adequately explained, this is why it is vital for one to listen to the right kind of music especially during our low points, or periods where we're relaxing. Make sure that the music you listen to at these tender moments is the kind of music that would uplift your soul, speak prophetically, motivates and would inspire you in a positive light. As such it is important that you steer away from dark grungy tunes, even if there are no lyrics attached, the rhythm and melody of a song also plays a vital role.

Another avenue is God. I wanted to end on this note, which explains why I've kept it until now. Honestly, one major getaway that we need to factor in to our daily lives has to do with God. Have you made your ways right with Him yet? Our spiritual walk with God needs to be just as solid, if not more so than any other part of our being.

The body, mind and soul, this are the three pillars that make up the holiday package that I like to call the COOLDOWN.

Now you know the three main escapes we should be taking in life on a regular basis- prioritise any one of these above and before considering your next trip to Dubai or the Caribbeans...
